Kilims

Kilims are flatwoven rugs, made without a pile, using an ancient tapestry-weaving technique passed down through nomadic and village communities across Anatolia, Persia, and the Caucasus. Unlike knotted carpets, kilims are woven by interlacing coloured weft threads directly through the warp — most often with the slit-weave method — so the pattern runs straight through the fabric, leaving it thin, reversible, and naturally durable. Every piece in this collection is entirely handmade, using yarn-dyed natural wool and time-honoured dyeing methods passed from one generation of weavers to the next. The diamond, hooked, and medallion motifs found across our kilims are not merely decorative — patterns like these have long carried meaning tied to protection, fertility, and the weaver's own family or region. Because a kilim is handwoven rather than machine-made, no two pieces are ever truly identical. Slight variations in colour, tension, and pattern are part of its authenticity, not a flaw. A well-kept kilim can last for generations, aging gracefully as its natural fibres soften with use.
